ABOUT · THE MEANING OF OUR MARK

Ancient Path Biblical Coaching emblem — a man with a lantern walking a stone path toward dawn cresting a mountain peak

Read the path.

Everything we believe about this work is already in the mark. Read it slowly.

1

The lantern

He doesn’t walk in his own light. The Word is a lamp to his feet.

Psalm 119:105
2

The stone path

Narrow, and few find it — because few choose to walk it.

Matthew 7:14
3

The wilderness

Mountains, forest, the long climb — the seasons that ask the most of a man.

Isaiah 43:19
4

The night

He doesn’t wait for the dark to pass. The light meets him in it.

Isaiah 9:2
5

The rising light

Dawn crests the peak. The path grows brighter the farther he walks.

Proverbs 4:18
6

The man

Back to us, facing the climb. The way is laid down; the steps are his.

The tagline

Walked, not managed.

Ancient Path Biblical Coaching walks alongside men in the seasons that ask the most of them — integrity work, the healing of old wounds, the ministry wilderness, and the crossings between endings and beginnings. Our foundational lens is narrative-focused trauma care from the Allender Center: we begin with the story a man is actually living and stay until it can be spoken out loud.

The work is held in confessional brotherhood, where shame is dismantled by the plain experience of being known. We are two men who believe a path is best walked with someone who has been on it.

John Sherrod

John Sherrod

CO-FOUNDER

John Sherrod walks alongside men in the seasons that ask the most of them. His work is grounded in narrative-focused trauma care from the Allender Center (NFTC, Levels 1–3, full certification 2026) — the disciplined movement from a man’s fragmented story, through the forge of being known by God and brothers, to redemptive testimony.

He draws on the work of crossings — naming an ending, waiting with purpose, investing wisely in the in-between, rising to walk a new path, and celebrating the victories and challenges along the way — and on Confessional Community, the formation framework developed by Dr. Curt Thompson and New Story Behavioral Health, where a circle of men walks the deeper work together.

He has completed Mending the Soul, the Conquer Series, Jay Stringer’s Unwanted, the SYMBIS marriage assessment, and Positive Intelligence, alongside ten years of Freedom Ministry at Gateway Church and years of disciplined study in the Hebraic textual tradition.

Like the men he serves, John has walked his own paths. He believes men do not change by being lectured or rescued. They change by being witnessed.

Jason Posey

Jason Posey

CO-FOUNDER

Jason Posey is co-founder of Ancient Path Biblical Coaching, with equal standing in the work. He carries much of the teaching and formation through video and the written word, writing for the men who walk these paths.

For several years, Jason has served in a ministry at his local church called Conquer — a program that awakens men to the dangers of pornography and sexual sin and walks them toward a life of purity. He has sat with hundreds of men as they’ve fought to overcome the wounds beneath the behavior. Today he leads cohorts and confessional communities alongside John, helping men do the slow, real work of being known and finding freedom.

A path is best walked with someone who has been on it.
